Hybrid Studio in Glasgow at World Climate Conference

Trade fair livestream studio

In cooperation with the trade fair event agency facts and fiction, we transformed the Germany Pavilion of the Federal Ministry for the Environment at the World Climate Conference in Glasgow into a hybrid event studio — delivering virtually every possible technical scenario for virtual, in-person, or hybrid formats across 12 days with hourly changing setups.

Pop-Up Studio Goes on Tour

Ready for change? The general public expected a hopeful signal from the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland, about how the international community would tackle human-made climate change. Accordingly, the Federal Ministry for the Environment spared no effort in operating the German Pavilion at the exhibition grounds — a trade fair booth with a conference stage for panels, talk formats, and press conferences, equipped with lighting, sound and camera technology, an on-site production studio for livestreaming and virtual connections with climate experts from around the world.

We handled the technical concept for the Germany Pavilion and its on-site operation for our partner agency facts and fiction. To ensure everything ran smoothly at the start of the 12-day exhibition, we shipped our own studio equipment to Scotland, filled out an A.T.A. Carnet with over 1,600 entries as a goods travel passport for customs, and staffed all on-site technical positions — except for setup assistance — with technicians from our team.

Live Program with More Than 30 Hybrid Events

COP 26 in Glasgow kicked off on October 31, 2021. Over the following 12 days, we operated the hybrid event studio with hourly changing setups covering virtually every possible technical scenario. Our services included providing and controlling lighting, sound, and camera technology for a pop-up stage with its own production control room. Participants from various video conferencing systems were virtually connected for panel discussions, press conferences, or other talk formats. The visual composition was enriched with motion designs and video inserts according to a provided production script and broadcast as a GDPR-compliant, multilingual livestream throughout the day via the Germany Pavilion homepage. The interaction between journalists, on-site attendees, and remotely connected participants during multilingual press conferences was facilitated through specialized interaction tools. Briefing of virtual participants, admission, and technical support were organized from our Urban Studio in Berlin Kreuzberg. Our video crew prepared recordings of the entire livestream program, which were made available to the virtual audience as video-on-demand the same day.

Very impressive what the JM team pulled off for us. We were optimally supported! Thank you.
