World Record Run in a 24-Hour Livestream

Record smashed! SportScheck Record Run 23 live on YouTube

“No Challenge, No Fun” — that was the motto when our client opened a new SportScheck store in Munich and combined the event with a world record attempt: 24 top athletes had to cover at least 356 kilometers on a treadmill at an average speed above 15 km/h. So the runners could be cheered on even through the night, we equipped the event with full live technology and streamed the entire 24 hours without interruption via YouTube.

The Challenge of a 24-Hour Broadcast

Streaming an event for an entire day and night without a single interruption is a test of endurance for the production team as much as for the athletes. Equipment must run continuously, operators need to work in shifts, and every technical component requires a backup plan. Jakobs Medien designed a production setup built for marathon reliability: redundant streaming encoders, multiple camera positions, and a crew rotation that kept fresh eyes on the broadcast around the clock. The stream had to remain engaging even during the quieter overnight hours, so we varied camera angles and on-screen graphics to keep the viewing experience dynamic.

What We Delivered

Our team traveled to Munich to set up the complete live production environment inside and around the new store. Multiple cameras covered the treadmill action, the store atmosphere, and the cheering crowd. A live graphics package displayed real-time statistics — distance covered, average speed, and time elapsed — so viewers could follow the record attempt at a glance. The YouTube stream ran for the full 24 hours without a single dropout, allowing fans from across the country to cheer the athletes on at any hour.

A Record-Breaking Success

The world record was broken, and the livestream played a central role in making it a shared experience for thousands of online viewers. The event generated substantial media attention and social media engagement for the store opening, proving that a well-produced livestream can turn a local retail event into a nationwide spectacle.
